MEGA Flight Services J-1 Summer Work and Travel program in the United States provides paid working holiday opportunities for participants to work during their university summer vacations as well as travel and experience daily life in the U.S. Cultural Exchange Program opportunities in the USA can contribute to participants’ lifelong personal and professional growth.

 

Purpose:

The purpose of the Exchange Visitor Program is to provide all accredited post-secondary school students who meet the basic requirements, the opportunity to travel to the United States to work in seasonal or temporary jobs such as lifeguards, amusement park workers, housekeepers, waiters or waitresses, hotel staff, resorts area workers and many other fulfilling jobs. This program is a wonderful opportunity to explore the USA while earning money to support your day to day needs and at the same time learning the American culture.

Requirements/Eligibility:

As an applicant, you must be able to prove that you are:

  • Between the ages of 18 and 28

  • Able to function conversationally or better in the English Language

  • Full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution (University/Professional school)

  • In second year or have completed at least one year of post-secondary education

  • Interested in working in the United State

  • Able to arrive in the USA before your employment period begins and begin working by your confirmed job start date

  • Able to stay in the United States for the duration of your program (through the last date listed on your DS 2019 form)

  • Capable of performing the duties and tasks outlined in your job description

Duration of the Program:

The J-1 Work and Travel program is for a maximum of 4 months and must take place during the summer and winter Season and University vacations.

 

Package Include:

  • Guaranteed work placement secured prior to arrival

  • An hourly wage of at least $8.00 an hour

  • J-1 Visa documentation.

  • Health/Travel insurance

  • Pre/post-departure orientation in Ghana and the USA.

  • Housing assistance

  • 24 hours a day/7 days a week personal support

  • Detailed participant brochure that contains all information relative to the program

  • An emergency assistance telephone number in the USA

  • Access to tax refund services that will assist you in filing your taxes (any portion of the taxes paid in the U.S.)

Package does NOT include:

  • Visa application fees at the U.S. Consulate/Embassy

  • Round trip airfare to the U.S.

  • Airport transfers

  • Transportation expenses

  • Any daily living expenses including rent, utilities, furnishings, meals etc.

  • Any expenses at the place of employment

                   

 

The J-1 Visa (together with your DS-2019) qualifies you to:

  • Work up to 4 months

  • Obtain a social security number (card).

  • Apply for a US driver's license/State ID

The dates on your J-1 visa are the dates in between which you are allowed to enter the United States of America. The expiration date on your J-1 visa is the last day you may enter the US not the last day you can work although they may correspond. Participants are advised to return home at the completion of their visa. J-1 visa extensions are not possible.

However, in the course of your J1 program, if you decide to stay in the US to attend college, you would have to change your status from J1 to F1. It is a complicated process and we advise you let us know latest by two (2) months before the expiration of your DS 2019 in order to help you change your status. 

 

Job Placements:

Paid positions are available in lifeguards, amusement park workers, housekeepers, waiters or waitresses, hotel staff, resorts area workers and many other fulfilling jobs.

 

Job Locations:

Positions are available throughout the USA. Students can be placed anywhere in the USA but students who register very early may be placed in their preferred states.

 

PROGRAM FEES AND PAYMENTS:

In our quest to ensure that many students get the chance to participate in the Work and travel Program, our fees are undoubtedly the lowest amongst the rest.
